Ryan Newman Helps the Earthquake Victims
At the end of May, Zeke and Luther star Ryan Newman went to the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean with the group skip1.org to help aid victims of the earthquake that hit Haiti back in January. It was an experience she’ll never forget. Ryan met with kids affected by the earthquake and helped pass out food to families. She met one young girl named Mary who really touched her heart. Mary couldn’t afford glasses and wasn’t able to go to school because she couldn’t see. Ryan made sure she got a new pair of glasses so Mary could go back to class. “It was a life-changing experience,” she says. “I saw things I’ve never seen before.”
Ryan says you don’t have to go all the way to another country to help others in need. You can help out in your own community. Talk to your teachers or parents to see how you can help out — whether it’s starting a food drive for a local homeless shelter. Or you can go to skip1.org to see how you and your family can donate.
