Totally Trendy: Velvet!
December 25, 2012
Velvet is definitely one holiday appropriate trend. We always seem to associate velvet with mature, more elegant looks, which makes sense. This fabric can come in jewel-toned, crushed and other cozy yet glamorous variations. Velvet has a kind of rich, luxurious feel to it that even celebrities can’t resist! Read on to see how some of our favorite stars are rocking the trend:
Victoria Justice‘s lush velvet blazer was definitely a stand-out at this Teen Vogue event. Although we already love the combination of a blazer with skinny jeans, the velvet fabric and her risky (but successfully fashion-forward!) decision to wear a bandeau underneath take it to the next level.
We adore the textured pattern of Chloe Moretz‘s red velvet dress. Chloe looks super sophisticated, and she completes her ensemble with a black oversized belt and ankle-strap oxblood heels. The red velvet really accentuates her softly waved blonde locks.
Katy Perry wears an all-velvet ensemble in this picture and looks like an old-time movie star. We understand how velvet can be a little overwhelming, but Katy distributes the fabric evenly throughout her body so it’s not too much. The dress is sleeve-less and has a full, pleated skirt that ends right at the knees and she matches it with velvet classic pumps.
Jennifer Lawrence keeps the velvet to a minimum in this ensemble. Her velvet waistband really pulls this gorgeous golden evening gown together. The glimmering mosaic-like pattern is already a lot to take in, so the velvet waistband adds some texture yet subtly contributes to the glamor of her outfit.
