Reader Guest Blog: One Direction Helps “Restore the Shore”!

December 5, 2012

BOP & Tiger Beat reader Sarine won the awesome opportunity to see One Direction at their sold-out Madison Square Garden show through OMAZE, an organization that offers everyone the chance to have once-in-a-lifetime experiences with celebs. But that’s not even the best part: All the proceeds benefit a social cause!

Sarine attended the concert in support of MTV and Architecture for Humanity’s “Restore the Shore” efforts to help rebuild the boardwalk in Seaside Heights, NJ. Seaside Heights was the hardest hit area of any coastal areas during Hurricane Sandy, and the storm completely devastated its famous 18-block boardwalk. But thanks to OMAZE’s charity raffle, money is being donated to the area’s restoration! Plus, one reader received the special opportunity to see her favorite band. Check out Sarine’s pics and and what it was like to go (in her own words) below!

About the concert:
This has been one of the best things to happen to me and Yvonne in a long time. The best part of the concert was Harry, obviously. These boys are so talented, and watching them perform songs I love like “Kiss You,” “Little Things,” and “What Makes You Beautiful” was amazing. I also loved how humble and sweet they were and how grateful they were to be there at MSG. It’s not something you see a lot. One of the reasons why I’ve followed One Direction since their time on The X Factor is because they seemed like such genuine, good kids who really wanted a shot at this. I’m so glad I got to experience their first show at the Garden. Mostly, though, I just squealed and whimpered a lot during Harry’s solos.

About her experience with OMAZE:
The most exciting thing was talking to Ryan and Matt. It’s one thing to win but it’s another when you’ve donated money and helped others. I didn’t feel like I was winning. I felt like I was doing something good.

About winning:
My area was blessed and I only lost power for a few days but I know and work with people who live in devastated areas. For me it wasn’t about the concert, it was about giving back to people that need help.
